US blocks UK Muslim family from boarding plane to Disneyland

British Prime Minister David Cameron will look into claims that U.S. officials prevented a British Muslim family of 11 from flying to Disneyland for a planned holiday.

The issue is sensitive because U.S. Republican presidential contender Donald Trump has called for a temporary ban on Muslims visiting the U.S. due to concerns about extremist attacks.

Stella Creasy, a member of the opposition Labour Party, said Wednesday that U.S. officials gave no explanation for refusing to allow her constituents to board a flight from Gatwick Airport on Dec. 15, so she wrote Cameron seeking his intervention. She said there is "growing fear" among British Muslims that aspects of Trump's plans are coming into practice even though they have been widely condemned.

IT is wrong, if not totally strange, for anybody to contemplate, much less say that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State instigated the shooting of Biafran agitators who were jubilating over the reported release of Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader and Director of Radio Biafra.

Those who peddle this rumour and circulate gory pictures of the victims of the alleged killing on the Internet must be ignorant of Obiano’s pedigree. But if they are not, it simply means the idea is to misrepresent the man and cause him, if possible, some political harm.

Over 1 million refugees, migrants enter Europe in 2015

- More than 1 million refugees and "irregular migrants" have entered Europe in this record-breaking year, the International Organization for Migration said Tuesday, a symbolic milestone driven by war, poverty and persecution in the Middle East and Africa.

With just days left in 2015, the Geneva-based intergovernmental organization said 1,005,504 people had entered Europe as of Monday, more than four times as many as last year. Almost all came by sea, while 3,692 others drowned trying to make the crossing.

France tightening church security around Christmas

France's interior minister says the government will tighten security for churches around Christmas, amid continued concerns about potential extremist violence after deadly attacks last month.

Bernard Cazeneuve announced Tuesday that churches will keep only one door open, instead of multiple doors, "to have better filtering at the entrance."

At a meeting with Christian, Jewish and Muslim religious leaders, Cazeneuve said: "Everything is being done to guarantee security."

He also says that anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic violence has receded since France imposed a state of emergency in the wake of the Nov. 13 attacks around Paris by Islamic extremists, which killed 130 people.

The attacks put security forces on edge, and raised concerns both about repeat attacks and an anti-Muslim backlash.

APC is fostering a one-party state on Nigeria – PDP

The governors’ forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) of being “bent on foisting a one-party state in Nigeria”.
Reacting to the nullification of the election of Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom by the appeal court, thePDP forum said through its “puppet master in Lagos”, the APC has entered an alliance with the judiciary to manipulate election results.
The court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in the state within 90 days. “The nullification of the election of His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel by the court of appeal on Friday in Abuja should worry all those who truly desire good for this country,” read a statement issued by Osaro Onaiwu, coordinator of the forum.
“It is becoming increasingly clear that the APC is bent on foisting a one-party state in Nigeria and to do so, it is ready to compromise the judiciary, destroy every fibre of integrity and sanctity of the judicial process through state compromise of the judiciary.
“For 16 years that the PDP governed, it respected the right to opposition and did not balkanise the judiciary as we have witnessed in the past seven months of the APC regime. “Let Nigerians realise that the judiciary is being tele-guided by a puppet master in Lagos and state apparatus and this charade like in all things unholy will soon collapse because a peoples will to choose their leaders can never be negotiated or mortgaged out of desperation.”
