Have you noticed Gmail can now stream video attachments
At the start of March, it came to our notice that Gmail had commenced support for attachments ranging up to 50MB capacity. This was extremely relieving as the previous upper limit was really restraining. Well Gmail had lot juicy more in the cupboard waiting for us.
Coming out in a matter of a week or two, every Gmail users would gain the capacity to stream video attachments.
What does this mean: you no longer have to download a video attachment before you watch it.
How it works now is well different: the moment the video gets to you, you will see video attachments displaying a thumbnail from the clip.
So by the activity of double clicking on the attachment, the video attachment will begin streaming inside a video player; this is not very different from that deployed by YouTube.
When streaming such video attachment, you now have the capacity to make adjustment to the speed of the playback, although by default these videos have optimal quality. This is really in close resemblance with what you when you double-click on a video file in Google Drive. Enjoy!!
Hurray: Super Mario Run launching on Android this Thursday
Our love affair with Super Mario is a sweet love that dates many many years back to the infant days of video gaming.
While we may tend to be lost in the military violence of modern combat games like Call of Duty, we can’t yet deny that most of us are still stuck in the love of fighting ducks and enemy birds particularly associated with the Super Mario.
For such category of persons, it was so relieving when we heard Nintendo was extending the Super Mario to our smartphones.
Now the development was quite unfortunate as Super Mario solely made its debut on an iOS platform and for those on the android side of the divide, we hungrily salivate when Super Mario would be judiciously rolled to Android.
Well we don’t we don’t have to wait much longer again. Nintendo has officially confirmed that SuperMario would be launching on Android this Thursday March 23.
Android version of #SuperMarioRun will be available on 3/23 with the Ver.2.0.0 update! Pre-register now: https://t.co/dAxzTlppnG pic.twitter.com/nQ0T4znOBt
— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) March 18, 2017
Remember back at the beginning of the year, Nintendo had promised to release the game on Android by March.
Nintendo was well faithful. For now the game has been listed on Google Play, although it’s not downloadable yet. Nintendo made voluptuous cash running into $50 million when Super Mario was launched on iOS last year December.
Hurray: You can now enjoy Facebook Live streaming on your desktop too
Back in 2016, we were clamouring for live streaming on Facebook and Facebook served us Facebook Live to partially quench our thirst. But it was only some meager spoonful as you could just enjoy Facebook alive on your phone.
The situation was not really pleasant for you had to do a live stream broadcast from only your phone or possibly your tablet. The Oliver Twist in us was invoked as we wanted more- more on our laptop too. Well, Facebook is finally considering the desktop masses.
Facebook has announced that is rolling out live streaming to Facebook users on the desktop; this extends to your laptop as well. So you we can broadcast live stream from your laptop.
This is really wonderful, if you want to explore the live stream functionality on your laptop, all you have to use is begin a live broadcast clicking on Live Video which is appearing on the top of your Timeline or your News Feed. So you can start after choosing your audience for the livestream which is after you have possibly added your description.
How you can enjoy Google Allo’s latest added ability to share documents and other files
Many of us could have forgotten Google Allo, not too unlikely though. But Google has not forgotten it yet trust me. And periodically,Google turns the executive chair to face Allo and beef it up with some updates. Just of late Google threw in stickers into the features of Allo upping its sophistication. And now Google is rolling in more to bring Google Allo to the contemporary frenzy its rivals like WhatsApp boast of. And what is Google Allo bragging about this time?
Yeah what we have now which Google Allo is adding is the functionality to share documents as well as a variety of other files. This file extension that Google brings stretches across .doc, .pdf, .apk, .mp3, and .zip. This certainly brings in excitement for Allo users even if WhatsApp already offer such feature. But at least you are not going to enjoy this feature on Facebook Messenger.
So how can you share file on Google Allo? You will have to deploy the fresh paper clip icon you can see above when you are having a chat on Allo. So when you click on it, you will be transferred to your files (that is the file explorer of your device).
There is however one limitation here as you can’t share slides nor Google Docs or even Sheets (in the case where you saved them in their default format). The options at present is sending links to your fellow conversant on Allo to the file or on the other hand you could save them in Microsoft format. Enjoy!!
Facebook will soon be allowing us to post animated GIFs in comments
Communication on the digital space has widened and eased. There is now a supposed economy of words as with little you could say more. Especially when you save yourself much arduous typing by using animated GIFs.
Many of us Facebook users have been complaining about the absence of support for animated GIFs in comments. This to an extent sapped the fun off expression when we comment. The goodnews now is that Facebook is considering introducing animated GIFs to comments such that you could post such GIFs in comments.
“Everyone loves a good GIF and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments,” a Facebook spokesperson explained. “So we’re about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments and we’ll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.”
How we expect Facebook to go about this is to first allow a small collection of people to test the feature, if the emerging feedback comes out positive then we can expect Facebook to expand the feature to the global Facebook community. This would be lovely certainly.
Instagram starts blurring ‘sensitive’ posts before you could see them
We all know Instagram has really been emphatic and very direct with pictures and videos that violated its policies- no negotiations. Once your content fails the test of the social media platform, is no mercy as such picture or video is quickly removed. Well Instagram will be loosening up a bit now.
Instagram would rather adopt a new procedure that blurs such violating photos or videos. So once your content contains anything “sensitive” possibly after someone had reported your post and the crew responsible for moderating on Instagram confirms that the image possibly is “sensitive,” the appearance of the image will turn blurred.
Such blurred photo will be accompanied with a warning on top of it depicting that: “This photo contains sensitive content which some people may find offensive or disturbing.” So before you see such picture, you would have to click on a button prior to viewing the post.
Well this is not all redefining as to Instagram’s policies in that those content classified as banned still remain banned. Looking into the future however, it becomes possible Instagram may slacken its prohibition of explicit posts.
“Over time we will explore expanding the application of screens into other areas,” the company wrote. It what this blurring approach is aimed at is “build a safe environment” for users. We will begin seeing the sensitive content warnings at once on Instagram.
Examining the astonishing Sony Xperia XZ Premium : 4K HDR screen, memory-stacked camera
As we look forward to the bombshell dropping from Sony in form of the
Sony Xperia XZ Premium, let us take some time to look at the juicy features it brings to the already congested table. No doubts this 5.5-inch smartphone typifies Sony’s recent hefty push for innovation.
First we will be looking at is the admirable reality that the XZ Premium boasts the world’s unprecedented 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) display; arguably he best a smartphone can boast of. Although it is quite true to admit that there was no elevated touch of uniqueness in the 4K on the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium we saw some two years back in 2015.
But in this 4K HDR, which Sony managed to bring out in partnership with Amazon, we must admit see deafening excellence when it comes to color production. In one of the demos we saw the XZ Premium flexing its potentials showing warmers colours, even up to a dazzling depiction of what the streets of Lisbon in Portugal looked like.
Now moving outside the astonishing display presented in this Sony Xperia XZ Premium, another thing that will stun you about this phone is its fresh camera tagged the Motion Eye. One thing that incites your curiosity is how Sony went the distance in bringing in fast memory right into the camera stack. Well armed with this capacity, the camera can produce a distinct really slow motion of 960fps at a resolution of 720p.
The duration for this quick burst is just 0.18 seconds. So if we examine this from the technical angle, we see that you will be capturing something in the region of 180 frames, this however doesn’t distort the allure of effect when you happen to stretch it on a more conventional 30fps. It is that powerful that you can capture very momentary shots like water splashes in just a blink of an eye. This is pretty amazing!
We must give Sony some deserved thumbs up for really going the length to bring out these designs in the Sony XZ Premium. For one thing, however hard I try, I have been unable to assassinate my love for Sony smartphones.
Windows 10 will soon allow you block the installation of desktop apps
Microsoft has been making dedicated efforts to ramp up the Windows 10. The most recent update that will be rolled out is the capacity to prevent (by blocking) desktop apps from installing. Sometime ago reports surfaced that the Windows 10 has been receptively accepting any kind of app to install as opposed to just allowing apps from the Windows Store.
Well this push to block such apps is not entirely new considering that a similar security feature has been rolled out by its rival Apple on to the macOS. Apple had targeted that at preventing the installation of unsigned apps as well as apps sourced outside the App Store. Yet this move is not entirely welcomed as criticism has been streaming from high profile sources one of which is from Epic Games co-founder Tim Sweeney who outwardly labels the move as “anti-competitive” and “anti-user” in a series of tweets slamming Microsoft.
So far we have learnt that Microsoft is at present running tests on a fresh “Windows 10 Cloud” version of its operating system. This one will help realize the blockade of the installation of desktop apps. Although the software maker has not really unveiled Windows 10 Cloud, but screenshots we have seen so far shows it well resembles the customary version of Windows 10 we have seen earlier on.
