Have you heard of RCS? Google brings it forward renaming Messenger to Android Messages

Now that RCS is taking over messaging, Google has taken the game up by ambitiously targeting its messaging app to assume the position of the default texting.

And just in case you don’t know what this RCS means, it is a communication standard which is naturally evolving from MMS as much as SMS. RCS boasts improved support for multimedia as well as group chat up to read receipts and has been well familiar with Facebook Messenger and even Hangouts.

Over 1 billion subscribers currently use this RCS format as it has been readily adopted by global carriers lone Sprint, Vodafone.

Google Messenger is therefore rolling in an update which rebrands the app to Android Messages.

Although the major functionality of the app will not be changing, and with the name changed, Google will be bringing will be spreading this rebranded app across over 19 smartphone manufacturers as Google primes to spearhead the RCS revolution.

With this update in place, we expect previously disturbing bugs to disappear with improved stability for the app as well as increased convenience in signing up.

Oliver Twist: Facebook wants more, plans to put advertisements in the middle of videos

No one ever gets satisfied, we are all Olivier Twists in our various calibrations. When you feel Facebook being the largest social media platform alive has made a lot of money, you are damn wrong.

And now Facebook unsatisfied is looking for new measures to keep the money rolling in and what will Facebook be adopting this time? Putting advertisements in the middle of videos!

We are learning that Facebook is rolling in advertisements in the middle of their videos which are watched rampantly on its platform.

The major inspiration behind this is certainly to make more money. Although as of now, Facebook is testing this model, we understand that should Facebook select it, what we will have will be the publishers of the video been allocated 55% while Facebook pockets the remaining 45%.

From what we are learning, if Facebook rolls in this program, people with follower capacity exceeding 2000 and those whose live videos which have reached over 300 viewers would be well eligible to have these ads inserted in their videos.

Back in 2016, Facebook had announced that more than 100 million hours of its videos are viewed every 24 hours. And now that Facebook is bringing in this money model, we can be sure of having more people broadcasting live videos soonest.

While this may seem goodnews for publishers to make money, for us viewers, it is just another terrible challenge of tolerating intrusive ads which we have little control over.

How can I Set Up Two-Step Verification in WhatsApp. Let Go...

In life, one of the foremost things you can get is security. In the digital world of social media, greater emphasis is being put on security with the increasing incidences of hackers breaking into private accounts. This is why the two-step verification is becoming the major trend now for security.

Rather than just inserting a password, these two step verification brings in another layer of security in addition. This ways marauders find it harder to break into your account.

Even WhatsApp now has the two step verification process. Let us look at how you can set two-Step verification in WhatsApp.
To start you simply have to open Whatsapp, you can from there head to Settings and move to Account.

Meanwhile you should be reminded that for you to see the two step verification, you must have the latest Whatsapp. Only then can you see the option of Two-Step Verification option. On the other hand, if you don’t have the latest WhatsApp version, do upgrade to enjoy this option. So let us continue if you have seen this option.

Okay at that point, they will demand you to input a six-digit passcode and then you will have to give confirmation to it. Well this should be other than your phone’s security.

Good from there, move on to give a confirmation of your email address. You can choose to jump this step although it is not too advisable you should. Especially considering that in the absence of a email address, it will be impossible to make a reset of your password.

So you can now click “done” for the enabling of this two-step verification. Subsequently at any interval in time, you can chose to make changes to your email address or even your password from the settings.

After you have finished all these, the next try you give at setting up WhatsApp on a new phone, WhatsApp will not only ask you for your password but also for a one-time code sent to your very number.
Enjoy!

Oh Boy! Meet the fastest SD card alive from Sony

These days life is all about speed. It is not about doing something, it is about how fast you will do it. Okay let us say you made an invention at 20 years and you made that same invention at 50 years. Which do you think the world will value more. To tell you how vital speed is these days, we prefer churches where the pastor’s sermons are very fast.

Sony knows this too hence in it greatly appreciates speed. Imagine the exonerating pains of having a memory card that doesn’t read fast. It is very painful. Anyway thank Jah for the latest memory card coming from Sony.

Dudes, this is officially the fastest storage card on planet earth at the moment. Going by details released by the Sony company, this SF-G UHS-II SD card has read speed of 300MB/s and speed of 299MB/s. This amazing specs inarguably makes it the fastest SD card alive; ever to be created.

Talking more about this storage card, the The SF-G cards happen to be waterproof, shock proof, X-ray proof, as well as temperature resistant. Sony plans to make this storage card available in the capacity of 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB variations.

As of now we can’t really say how much Sony will be selling this as of now. But certainly from next month, we are expecting Sony to put this up for sale. I really love speed personally- fast aid furious technology.

Facebook videos will now be automatically playing sound

Facebook is pruning its video service with some couple of changes. Most particularly is its mode of playing its videos. From the development surfacing, it indicates that Facebook will be introducing a couple of changes to its video playing rolling in something like an “autoplay”. What is the implication of this autoplay?

It means that when your phone is not silent (as to how you set it) or possibly you have not disabled the feature via the mobile settings panel of Facebook, any video you happen to see in the New Feed will play automatically with sound on by default. For some time now since August Facebook has been testing this feature.

You can however be sure that this Facebook’s automatic video sound playing will not turn disruptive in that it will not disturb your music coming from Spotify, Apple Music as at the time Facebook video starts playing.

Quoting the words of Dan Rose, who occupies the position of Facebook’s vice president of partnerships, he had laid emphasis on the changes reiterating that Facebook strives to respect the privacy of users “We’re going to honor the sound settings on your phone,” he said today at Recode’s Code Media conference. “If sound is on your phone, we’ll default to sound on rather than off.”

According to Facebook you can choose to turn off the feature by simply toggling on the “Videos in News Feed Start With Sound” appearing in the settings panel.

Well the ambitions of Facebook can be technically read in that Facebook could be calculating that when it turns on the sound on Facebook automatically, users can easily get absorbed in the videos as Facebook strategically strives to make the biggest social medial platform an equal destination for video be it streaming or recorded.

Big Relief: YouTube planning to end non-skippable 30-second ads in 2018

Many times online we are bullied, streaming most particularly was no longer democratic, your opinion didn’t necessarily matter as Google was one big predator forcing spoonful of ads down our throats especially in its YouTube. You remember those non-skippable 30-second ads?

Well it seems Google has finally realized how unfair it has been as it is now planning on putting an end to these non-skippable ads by next year.

This was revealed in its campaign as a Google spokesperson revealed that the idea Google would be punishing now is commercials that more interactive with the viewer as well as the advertiser at last.

“We’re committed to providing a better ads experience for users online. As part of that, we’ve decided to stop supporting 30-second unskippable ads as of 2018 and focus instead on formats that work well for both users and advertisers,” Google said.

Well if you are heaving your relief, don’t heave too heavily as not all non-skippable are leaving. Videos ads of span of 20 second as well as those of 15 seconds will stay however.

From what we are even analyzing, it is even possible Google may roll in more of ads of the duration of 6- seconds. Just sad we have to wait till next year to see these changes. But still patience makes it good news.

One of my best apps email apps on my iPhone debuts on Android

Call it the fastest email app around: no flattery!

Personally I don’t joke with email apps on my smart phone. I like the way they optimize time and increase my productivity. I necessarily wouldn’t like to prescribe an email app for you but that doesn’t mean I’m not proud of my love for the Email by EasilyDo. The only limitation I did suffer with this app previously was that it was just for iOS. But now things have changed.

The Email by EasilyDo jollification has now be judiciously extended from iOS to android. And it exactly repeats the same things I love about it on iOS: awesome speed, package tracking and a host of other smart sorting, one tap for canceling your subscription for junk email and other stuff.

I would readily push for this app for anyone out there that wants to shift allegiances from Google’s indigenous email app.

And this Email by EasilyDo is yet even getting better with support for Outlook, AOL,Yahoo as well as a variety of IMAP accounts.

Thus it is well said calling this app some kind of universal inbox. At least this app is particular for its speed as well as the ease with which you can unsubscribe from those pestering junk mails.
It is really worth a good try.

And you can get Email by EasilyDo on Play Store now.

Another blow to the masses:HTC will no longer make cheap phones in 2017

The company is greatly slashing down on low entry-level devices

Why is it always the masses suffering? When a cup of rice goes to N170, it is the masses that suffers it, when fuel goes to N300, it is still the masses, it is not like I want to go political though but the fact obviously remains that the masses are the punching bag of the economy.

And now HTC will be adding to our woes. In the latest announcements coming from HTC, it revealed that the giant phone maker is packing its luggage off the entry-level smartphone market later this year. The practical implication of this is that HTC will officially stop making cheap phones. Thunder!
While HTC asserts it will terminate production of cheap phones this year, it still pledged a continued compensational support for cheap phones as HTC aims to put its major production emphasis on to high-end, costlier devices.

Well this would be a blow but not too big a blow considering that HTC had earlier on chopped down its production of small phones to focus in producing high end phones some five years back.

What HTC is planning this time around is that it would yet unleash over 6 phones this 2017 just too sad that none of the phones will be for the common man. Just too bad a financial prejudice for us the masses!

Guess what: the beloved Nokia 3310 could be coming back

How many of you still remember the legendary Nokia 3310? Ahhh, that is of course of the grandfather of phones in Naija: an unarguable Nokia legend.

Those days, the battery never gets tired and most memorably is exciting Snake II that was a wonder at that time. How many of you would love a resurrection of this long forgotten hero, how many of you will love the Nokia 3310 to come back?

Well if you are just like me who wants the Nokia 3310 back, it is becoming a more likely reality. Reports reaching us has revealed that HMD Global (this is the new Finnish company now owning licensing rights for the manufacture of Nokia phones) will possibly announce a kind of “relaunch” of the legendary Nokia 3310 phone at the MWC event. If this be, the relaunched 3310 may cost something like $62.61.

Also in side with the Nokia 3310, another phone that could be announced at the event is the Nokia 5 and the Nokia 3. Talking more precisely about the Nokia 5, it could have specs like 2GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch 720p screen, and then the camera could be 12-megapixel as much as running the Snapdragon 430 processor.

Well, let us wait and see first, the MWC event is just some ten days from now. But no doubt I would love to see my beloved Nokia 3310!

How could the next iPhone look like: No Home buttons

The iPhone is always bribing our interest with something fresh. Apple has a culture of wobbling up things to keep them fresh. So when the next iPhone comes what could we be possibly expecting?

It is becoming very possible the upcoming iPhone will not have the famous home button neither will it have have the Touch ID. Reports reaching us suggest that Apple may ditch its previous customary designs in favor of something like virtual buttons that may also include edge to edge design.

With this new design possibly in place, how will your iPhone look like? Something like this: a 5.8-inch OLED scree (with dimensions of 2800×1242).

But this time the 5.15-inch useful screen size as well as the remaining part of the screen will be deployed in a virtual capacity as Touch buttons at the bottom. It is even possible that this new iPhone design may come with something like biometric technologies which will now take over from the fingerprint recognition technology the iPhone is using at the moment.

The design at the end may have resemblance (pertaining to footprint) as the 4.7-inch TFT-LED iPhone which we have at present in the iPhone 7 and then battery life quite similar to what you have at present in he iPhone 7 Plus.

Should this design come to reality, will you forgive Apple for dismissing your well acquainted home button from the iPhone?

Did you know Apple sold an amazing 6 million Apple Watches last quarter?

If you remember some time ago Tim Cook who occupies the position of Apple chief executive said that sales Apple recorded for the Apple Watch over the last quarter had spiraled into a new record breaking figure.

He didn’t really divulge more details for us than that “the holiday demand was so strong we couldn’t make enough.” Now it seems we now clearly know the figures, dragging from a report published of late by the reputable Canalys, it is very possible.

Apple had amassed a mind blowing record performance of 6 million units sales of Apple wristwatches. This swells into a delicious revenue of $2.6 billion for Apple. In fact, this figure practically accounts for almost 80% of the whole number of smart watches sold last quarter.

Delving further into the report, Canalys notes that Apple recorded about 6 million units last quarter, this would amount into a year to year growth of 12%. Overall, Canalys nails its estimates for watches Apple sold last year at 11.9 million accounting for 49% of the market share for last year.

With the figures at that, it would honorably enthrone Apple at the helm of the smartwatch market by a very notable distance. Trailing Apple (however not close) for last year is Samsung and Fitbit. Samsung holds 17% of the market while Fitbit holds 15%. The remaining 19% is held by the remaining 19%. Kudos to Apple.

Did you know over 200,000 Uber account were deleted during the #Delete Uber campaign

Due to the widespread #Delete Uber protest that abruptly broke out on social media, this was made public by reports from the New York times. This resulted to the stepping down of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick from his position on president Donald Trump’s Economic advisory council.

In a statement released by Kalanick then, “Earlier today, I spoke briefly with the president about the immigration executive order and its issues for our community”

“I also let him know that I would not be able to participate on his economic council joining the group was not meant to be an endorsement of the president on his agenda but unfortunately, it has been misinterpreted to be exactly that”

In addition to the mass deletion of its app, it seemed Uber was also faced with both external and internal pressures.

A disputation all-hands meetings was held which had Kalanick struggle with serious staff complaints over the perceived relationship between Uber, its chief executive and the Trump’s administration.
Some employees informed Kalanick as they suffer a social stigma as they are workers at Uber. This was made public by the New York Times.

Subsequently , a google doc containing 25 pages titled “Letters to Travis” was distributed at the company, as reported by the New York times, it made mention of employees’ dissatisfaction with how Kalanick had managed the relationship between Uber and Trump. The following day, Kalanick surrendered under agreed conditions and gave up his position on trumps council.
