The Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has ordered the suspension of accreditation of voters in Ikwerre local government area in the state following the non-availability of result sheets and a reported attack on security agents and corps members.

The battle which lasted for about 25 minutes left the town looking like a ghost yard and according to a police officer, the armed thugs advanced towards Ubima, hometown of governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
Speaking with newsmen, Amaechi, who gave the order at his home-town, said although all the materials are complete in his polling unit, the fact that result sheets are not available in other polling units in the entire local government area, remains a source of worry to him.
He however noted that as a result of the development, the corpers and other electoral materials were kept in several buses, preparing to leave the community.
Sources at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), however said they are making frantic efforts to sort out the problem.
