bombings in Mumbai, has been hanged, Indian TV stations reported.

execution of Yakub Memon over his role in the bombings, clearing the way
for him to be hanged early on Thursday morning.

was executed on his 53rd birthday at Nagpur jail in the western state
of Maharashtra, according to the NDTV and CNN-IBN news channels.

Senate to screen service chiefs Tuesday •Constitutes three special committees

THE Senate will, on Tuesday, screen the newly appointed service chiefs at its plenary session.
Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, had earlier announced that the screening would take place today, but the change had to be effected, following information that the military would be holding a pulling-out parade in honour of the former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, the same day.
Saraki, at the plenary on Wednesday, announced that the newly appointed service chiefs would be screened during the plenary at 11.00 a.m. He, however, did not state whether the screening would be conducted in an open or closed session.

She said the police got an intelligence report that a young boy was murdered and when the police team visited the scene, the body of the victim was found on the floor with his stomach ripped open.
The PPRO expressed worries and sadness over the incident, in view of the fact that a teenager was involved in such violence, adding that the crime suggested ritual killing.

Ekiti road transport chief sent to prison custody over murder of NURTW chief
An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates' court in Ekiti State, on Monday,
ordered that a former chairman of Road Transport Employers Association
of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Ekiti State, Mr Olabiwwonnu Joseph, more popularly
known as Mentilo, be remanded in prison custody over alleged murder.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Bankole Olasunkanmi, had told the court in a hearing on Monday that the accused committed the offence on September 25, 2014 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The police also alleged that the accused, on the said date, "unlawfully conspired to murder and murdered the late former Ekiti State National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chief, Mr Omolafe Aderiye."
According to him,the offence contravened sections 324 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State,2012.

Ilorin: Police recover day old baby abandoned in a carton

Chinese embassy security officer killed in Mogadishu hotel attack
An armed police officer of the Chinese embassy in Mogadishu has been confirmed killed in Sunday’s suicide car bombing attack at Jazera Hotel.
The embassy, said Monday that three other officers were wounded in the incident, which killed at least 15 and injured over 40 at the latest count and for which militant group Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility.
China was greatly shocked by the attack and strongly condemns it, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang, while offering sincere condolences over the loss of lives.
China, he added, has lodged representations with the Somali side both in Mogadishu and in Beijing, and has moved the embassy staff to a safe area.
